My thoughts:
I have been surprised by how little detail has been in the news regarding border crossings. Espfcially in light of Biden’s executive order. I had assumed that his executive order had done little good but apparently it has?
The reduced southern border crossings is good news — I assume for everyone. It doesn’t erase the fumbles made earlier by the Biden administration. (And although unrelated I still disagree with the forgiving of student loans — I would have required something in return such as public service as well as requiring the schools involved to pony up.)
Trump didn’t solve the border when he was in office. Neither has Biden. Perhaps after the election both parties will agree to revisit the border legislation drafted in the Senate earlier this year. We don’t need to solve this issue through executive order; we need to solve it through legislation and its implementation.
