I decided I needed a catchall post to capture observations I have made that I have not written down elsewhere.
Eastern North Dakota is very flat. County roads are very straight
So many town 9 hole golf courses?
Few foreign branded cars. Lots of Fords and Chevys. And Grand Wagoners. White is by far the color of choice. A bit surprised by the number of Escalades and Expeditions.
Everyone is white.
Early September — looks like harvesting of crops is starting.
No National chain stores here. Though maybe I’ve seen a Dollar General in Cavalier?
Every town has a bar & grill.
When I was in International Falls, I learned that some automakers, including Mercedes, ship cars to International Falls to evaluate how they perform in extreme cold.
Corn and soybeans.
The towns here are really small -- 1,000 people and smaller?
I am told that it doesn't snow all that much here but it does get cold. I don't plan to find out for myself.
