My Trip To Nimrod, Minnesota

Walmart

Park Rapids, Minnesota

August 30, 2024

6 PM

I enjoyed my time today hanging out at a park here in Park Rapids. But by midafternoon I was ready to do something else — how about a 35 minute drive to Nimrod!

Nimrod was hopping with campers parked all over the place. Lots of beer being consumed and folks setting up tents to sell goods.

I was sorry I missed the beer pong tournament yesterday. I suspect it was well attended.

Nimrod is small but there is Nimrod everywhere.

As opposed to northern Minnesota, there is agriculure in this part of the state.

On my way back to Park Rapids I came across the BlueberryPines golf course. It was so pretty from the road I drove in and discovered I could hit a bucket of range balls for $6. The turf was awesome even though my swing was not. I would have played nine holes but thought I might get frustrated. Rats!

The Straight River isn’t straight.

I was back to Park Rapids by 530 PM. I was tempted to go to the high school football game at 6 PM but didn’t go.

FYI, there are five places in the US named Nimrod.

Nimrod is a ghost town in Granite County, Montana, United States. The GNISclassifies it as a populated place. A post office called Nimrod was established in 1915, and remained in operation until 1962.[2] The community was named after Nimrod, since this was a hunters' paradise.

Nimrod is an unincorporated community in Lane County, Oregon, United States, on the McKenzie River. It is located along Oregon Route 126, between Vida and Blue River, 35 miles (56 km) east of Eugene, in the Willamette National Forest. As of 2003, its population was roughly 190.[1] Nimrod is the site of a former ferry that crossed the McKenzie. Nimrod is served by the Vida post office, zip code 97488.

Nimrod is an unincorporated community in Eastland County in the U.S. state of Texas.[1] It is located on Farm to Market Road 569 and was originally settled in 1876. The town may have been called Monroe or Curtis but was later changed to Nimrod for a biblical character of the same name.

Nimrod is an unincorporated community in Perry County, Arkansas, United States. The community is located along Arkansas Highway 60, 16 miles (26 km) west-southwest of Perryville.
