The Mississippi River runs through Minnesota for 650 miles, from its source at Lake Itasca in the north to the Minnesota/Iowa border. The river flows through a variety of landscapes, including prairies, woodlands, valleys, and bluffs, and has different widths and flow rates. The river also passes through the Twin Cities area, which includes Minneapolis and St. Paul.
